Swan Inn Moreton in Marsh

I wanted to update fellow travelers of The Swan Inn in Moreton in Marsh. We just spent 3 nights there in room 3... do not get that room. Although Simon and Scott were welcoming, the room was not. It needs updating. There is a mold situation with the bathroom, there isn't any ventilation. The mirror lights are not working. There is a sensor on the bathroom ceiling that reacts to your entry, but it stays on too long. (We taped over the sensor) it's a bummer when using the toilet in the middle of the night. The linens were nice but the bed had a dip in the center of the bed.. if you are into sleeping super close, no problem.
I am an avid traveler and appreciate the work that goes into running a hotel or B and B.... but there standards. I don't believe that Rock Steves recommended this hotel and is he did, it was years ago.

Thanks for sharing your experience on the site, suzanne. I am sorry you didn’t enjoy your room. You may want to put your review in the subcategory Hotel and Restaurant Reviews as well. It’s further down the page.

What was Simon and Scott's response to your comments about the room and did they sort the problem with the mirror lights and bathroom sensor when you told them?

Issues like this are far better dealt with by engaging with the proprietor than slating them on social media.

I'm sure they would love the chance to respond, if they were made aware.

Thanks for sharing your perceptions, and welcome to the Forums, Suzanne.

I'm surprised to hear that there is no opportunity of ventilation in the bathroom. Every bathroom should by law have at least a ventilation fan venting outside or into the loft and eventually outside. British law does not allow switches inside the bathroom - maybe you missed a pull cord in the bathroom or a switch somewhere in the bedroom? Or maybe it is wired with the light from the sensor? What did Scott or Simon say when you enquired?

The light sensor is a tricky one. While it stayed on too long for you, if it were shorter we would likely have complaints as we have had for other properties of folks upset because it meant if they were staying a while in the bathroom they had to wave their arms around to turn the light back on. It is so difficult to please everybody all of the time.

Some people may not like a sensor, but it saves fumbling around in the dark for a switch in an unfamiliar place and is welcomed by other people.

Did you leave the tape on the sensor when you checked out? If so, did you at least mention it? The next people in the room, or the cleaning staff probably wouldn't look up there, and might complain that the lights didn't work.

I think the main thing may have been to stay in communication with Simon and Scott during your stay.

How was the food? Breakfast? Tea or Dinner?

This hotel only has 7.something on booking.com. That’s low so I would expect it to have some issues and I would hope it was priced accordingly. The reviews on there reflect your experience quite well and are always worth reading because only people who have booked and stayed at a property can leave a review.
