Sunday Roast in Cotswolds

Hello! We will be traveling to England in July 2026 and will be staying in the Cotswolds for a long weekend; our homebase will be Stow-on-the-Wold. We will be checking out of our place on a Sunday, so I would like to find a good restaurant/pub to have Sunday Roast. It can be anywhere close-by, but could also be in Oxford, as we'll be traveling by there on our way to the return our rental car.

We would appreciate any suggestions anyone has on a good place to enjoy Sunday Roast.

Thanks!

I have not been there, but my brother and his wife went to The Porch House in Stow to have Sunday roast and raved about it. It has the added benefit of being known as the oldest inn in England.

If your only purpose in going to Oxford is to have Sunday Roast, I would bypass it. It would be difficult to park there unless you find someplace on the outskirts. If you're going to see the city, then yes, definitely you could find a good place there. They have a number of really good pubs and I'm sure many of them serve a Sunday Roast.

You probably know this, but just a reminder that Sunday roasts are usually served between the hours of noon to 4 or thereabouts.

Thanks for your response! We were planning on going to The Porch House to grab a pint, but may have to add a roast on Sunday as well. :)

The Manor House Hotel in Moreton.

A bit out of the way, The Back Lane Tavern in Woodstock is a great little boozer.

We are visiting the Cotswolds in March and going to The Wild Rabbit. I have read great reviews.

Thanks for the great suggestions! They all look delicious and have the atmosphere we're looking for. We may just have to visit each of them throughout our time there. :)

We had a fantastic Sunday Roast (lamb shank) at Bower House Restaurant, in Shipston-on-Stour
