Has anyone stayed here? Or in the area close to Paddington station? I am trying to decide if we should stay here in September 2024. They have rooms available right now. It is near Paddington tube station and Hyde Park. Easy to travel from Heathrow. I am wanting a hotel within a few minutes walk of a tube station and my husband wants air conditioning. Also we will be getting in after 10pm and need a hotel with 24 hr check in and easy to get to from Heathrow. Although if we have to take a cab we will. And this hotel is around $200/210 a night with breakfast. Good reviews except the rooms are small. Any thoughts or ideas of places to stay?
I have stayed at that Stylotel several times, although not in the last couple of years. The rooms are small, but clean and serviceable. The location is very handy, it's not far to Hyde Park and there are basic eateries and minimarts nearby. As a solo female I'd be comfortable walking the block or two from Paddington at 10 pm.
I like the general area because of the closeness to the park, but a few years ago I shifted to the London House in Bayswater. If you're staying more than a night or two, you might enjoy this more. The rooms are a little bigger and they have a fridge. It's about a 15 minute walk from Paddington, or 1 tube stop on the Circle/District lines. At 10 pm I'd take a cab. There are many eateries, groceries, laundromat nearby and another tube stop on the Central line.
Many, many places are easy to get to from LHR using the Tube or Elizabeth Line. The HEX is not compulsory neither is staying in Paddington. So don’t be limited to that area.
Take a look at the map for both the Elizabeth Line and the tube (Piccadilly Line) to see all the other places you can easily get to from Heathrow without needing to change trains. I actually quite like Paddington and Bayswater, but I do agree that it's not particularly central, and there are nicer parts of London.
