Stuck with Premier League tickets

I purchased tickets for the Tottenham vs. Newcastle match on Oct. 22. Now the match has switched to Oct. 23 and we can no longer make it because of our flight. I'm now being told the tickets are non-refundable. Does anyone know of an easy way to try to resell these?

Thank you!

Tottenham and Spurs are one and the same, Tottenham Hotspur, Spurs for short.

Unfortunately there's little you can do. Clubs have banned the resale of tickets in order to clamp down on the touts but they haven't made it easy for the fans by refusing to provide refunds. I'm afraid it's all about money these days and the way they treat their fans is the reason I no longer line their pockets.

Have you definitely confirmed with the club you can't get a refund? It's a sell-out against the Toon so there will be a demand for tickets

Are you in physical possession of the tickets, or just a confirmation saying you’ll get them at some point?

Its not the clubs per se, it is actually ilegal to resell football tickets (albeit it goes on). The reason is to prevent the mix of opposing fans.

Many PL clubs operate authorised ticket exchanges, no idea if Spurs do, but it is worth checking out.

Spurs do have an official exchange but it is for season ticket holders or premier members only.

You might have a faint hope with some)he second- or third-level teams. Fan enthusiasm is similar but in smaller stadiums (with, of course, fewer tickets.) One of the unusual characteristics of English football is that some of the teams in the second division were in the top competition last season. Size of the stadium didn't change, just the number of games won. The second division is now called The Championship, wistful marketing that shows hope springs eternal in the British game.

Southam - the difference is probably that Soccer is, in most countries, a competitive sport built on leagues - you have a terrible season, you get relegated to a lower league. Promotion to the top is not necessarily built on riches - but on "on the pitch" success.
There are currently 4 teams in the third tier of English football - league one - who average ove 20,000 home attendances (more than the lowest 4 in the premiership)

Hope springs eternal - isn't that the reason that people follow sports teams?

@Southam & @Tim

The OP has tickets to a Spurs game but can't make it now, so effectively done the hard bit, not asking a generic question on the English football pyramid. But, unfortunately due to the ilegality of reselling football tix, they can't offload them.

@OP: If Spurs have no official ticket exchange for standard tickets, I'm afraid they are lost.

Since P1 is an official partner you would think they would be able to help, but apparently not

And I know that because of Ted Lasso. 😊

I'm really grateful for everyone's reply. I'm also happy to report that P1 travel ended up giving me a refund. At first they said they would not, but they changed their minds after I purchased tickets for a different match. Thanks again.

I'm glad that the OP managed to sort things out. It is the sad reality that people who actually buy tickets are the least important in a mass televised sport. I was a season ticket holder at a premier league club, and the more successful they were, the more games I missed because of very late rescheduling for television.

@ Laughing Spam Fritter - nothing wrong with my comprehension skills - I absolutely get the OP's question, but you might notice my response was directed at a comment on attendances in the reply above mine.
