I will be in Stratford and York in July. I will have 3 days in each city. Do you have recommendations for restaurants, pubs and things to do in both cities?

For York, I highly recommend lodging at The Minster Hotel. It is located a short walk from the North Gate.
It has spacious rooms, great breakfast and parking if you have a car.
We dined in places near this hotel and there were several that we enjoyed, sorry, don't remember since this was 8 years ago.
As for Stratford, we did it in a full day, taking the Shakespeare tour starting at the house where he was born. Not sure you need three days there.

Unless you're planning to see a play at the Royal theater in Stratford, I also dont think it's worth 3 days. Maybe two nights. We liked the food at the Thatch Tavern there.

In Stratford Upon Avon, we loved Anne Hathaway’s cottage and especially sitting in and walking in the orchard there. It was so peaceful and beautiful.
We loved the church where Shakespeare is buried and also the walk on both sides of the Avon to and from that church.
One evening we went to a play at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. That was fun.
