I will be spending a few days in the Cotswolds with Stow-on-the-Wold as my base. I will not have a car but will be using public transportation. My travel mates would like to see Stratford-upon-Avon. Would taking the #801 bus to Moreton-in-the-Marsh then the #51 to Stratford-upon-Avon a good strategy?
Yes, it is a good strategy,
Between Moreton in Marsh and Stratford on Avon note that at certain times the bus runs as route 1/1A/2 or 2A.
If you look at the Stagecoach website or app they will give all journey times and downloadable up to date timetables for the above and the 51. The combined frequency for the 5 route variations is actually quite good.
The 801 is run by Pulhams.
At certain times you may find that the #801 to Chipping Norton then the #50 to Stratford on Avon may present the best journey option.
Similarly: If staying in Chipping Campden, would you recommend the same options? Or instead of heading to Morton on Marsh for the #801 to the #50, is there a bus we may catch from CC to the #50 and on to Stratford-Upon-Avon? Thanks!
Chipping Campden is on the 1/1A/2 or 2A routes to Stratford (which starts at Moreton in Marsh), so it is a direct bus taking around 40 minutes- outward to Stratford at 0633 (an hour later on Saturday), 0852, 1011, 1113, 1314, 1533, ( 1556 Saturday), 1815 and 1913 with afternoon returns at 1305, 1435 (Not Saturday) , 1534, 1705 and 1845.
No Sunday service
also, on Tuesday only the Hedgehog Community Bus- out at 0942, back at 1230
