Due to storm PIA, today 21 December, all train companies are expecting disruption to train services in the north of England (basically north of Leeds/Liverpool/Manchester) and Scotland.
LNER have thinned out services north of Newcastle as a precaution, and Avanti already have delays of around 30 minutes north of Carlisle due to a restriction of speed to protect the rail infrastructure.
These delays will probably accumulate as the day wears on.
So just be aware and be prepared for the possibility of line closures IF the electric wiring fails, which hopefully it won't.
This is all due to wind, not precipitation.
