Stop between Chichester and Heathrow

Hello,

I'm looking for an interesting place to spend a few hours between Chichester and Heathrow. We will be traveling by public transport so preferably a place on a train line. We will have luggage so will need storage. I've looked at Arundel and Rye (which is out of the way but would be okay) and neither of them have luggage storage as far as I can find. Any place that might have some similarities to these two places but a big bigger so they might have storage? Thanks so much!

Have you considered Winchester? It's somewhat on the way and on a train line. However, I don't know what the luggage storage situation is. It's a very cute town and the cathedral is beautiful.

Thanks Cat! Looking into it and it may be just right. It is apparently big enough to have several Bounce (storage) locations! I'm always up for a cathedral. I wonder what else we could do there. Looks like river walks and a small museum. Some gardens too! Sounds perfect.

I visited Winchester for the first time in late May. It is wonderful. The cathedral, the paths along the river, the Winchester City Mill, several good pubs, The Great Hall, a couple of nice, small museums. I was completely hooked. if you like Cathedrals, do take The Tower Tour that leads you up to the top, and through the large attic above. I stayed at The Wykeham Arms, which was a little bit of a hike from the train station, but well worth it.

If you like bookstores, the P&G Wells in Winchester is a must.

Cat, Pharmer Phil and MapLady, Thanks you for all the suggestions! Winchester sounds like the place for us our last day in the UK.
