I wanted to know if you take the regular tours of Stonehenge of out side circle - how close are you. The inner circle tours are more $$ and after hours. I am hoping to get feed back on regular tour. Thank you
We have been on both tours. We took the outside tour during the day several years ago before they opened the current visitor center and shuttle service. It was great, but the inner circle tour was even better. We took the evening version and caught the sunset. It was fantastic. Getting that close to the stones and catching the sunset was spectacular. The only shortcoming was that some of exhibits at the visitor center were closed. But we weren't there for the reproduction of grass huts and the rehash of the unknown history of the stones. While inside the circle, one of the attendees had an "L" shaped metal rod. While holding it and standing next to some of the stones, the rod moved towards a stone. Fascinating! You could try for both on the same or different days.
I think most people would be satisfied with the 10-15 yards from the stones to the low rope barrier. I certainly was.
In 2018 my daughters and I did the London Walks tour to Stonehenge and Salisbury. We enjoyed the whole tour. We would have liked to be closer to the stones, but we didn't feel like we were far away. You can see them quite well.
