It looks like the visitor centre is open from 9:00 until 15:00. Will it be open later in May?

Thank you Claudia. I put in our date and it said the property is opened until 17:00. I guess by property they mean the visitor center but it doesn’t say specifically.

The opening hours are clear on the English Heritage website - they control all access. If the date you want says times, that's when you can go unless utilising one of their special tours that normally operate outside those hours
