I apologise for being repetitive. I am trying to figure out the costs of transportation to Stonehenge. I am leaving Bath, arriving in Salisbury, the train costs about 25 pounds, then there is a Stonehenge tour bus that comes once an hour, and some sites say it is 3 pounds, but the web page for the tour bus offers a "Bus only" option, and that is 20 pounds. I tried to contact the Stonehedge page; however, I can only leave a message with a robot. That comes to roughly 45 pounds per person, and the cost of 28 pounds for admission. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
All local buses in the UK are £3 a ride until the end of the year. However because the Stonehenge bus is a special tourist service it is exempt from the cap so the £20 bus fare is correct
I have mentioned a number of times that there is a cheaper way to get to Stonehenge from Bath on the £3 buses. However because the timetable is quite restricted and Rick doesn't have the route in his book (it is too recent) the forum doesn't like it.
Briefly-
Bus #271 or 272 from Bath to Devizes every 30 minutes, Bus X2 Devizes to Stonehenge at 1105, arrive 1154; depart 1413 back to Devizes, or at 1354 to Salisbury for the Cathedral and maybe Evensong. Then prebook a cheap Advance train ticket on a specific train back to Bath later for £9 each before railcard discounts.
