Stonehenge "inner circle tour"

I am planning to visit London in April and want to visit Stonehenge. I understand you're limited to a 10 meter distance unless you take the "inner circle tour" which is more expensive. Is the experience of the "close up" tour worth the extra cost (I know you can't take it with you but just wanted opinions, LOL) ?

My husband and I took the inner circle tour many years ago. It was definitely worth it. Being up near the stones verses 10 meters away is a huge difference. We'd do it again.

In my opinion, yes but that’s based on my interests in the history of the area. The tour we were on was small and the tour guide had participated in the filming of the PBS Nova special.
I don’t know if Pat Shelley still does the tours but this is the company.

Again, it depends on your interests as to whether the expense is worth it!

I went to Stonehenge the first time as a kid, back when everyone could walk right into the circle, and touch/sit on the stones.

I am a non-religious, non-spiritual, dry-as-dirt person with no propensity at all for “woo,” and I recall being absolutely blown apart by the immensity of my emotions as I experienced the site up close. It was as close to “real magic” as I can imagine. I cherish those memories.

So when I say “DO IT!!!!!” that’s what is informing my recommendation. 😀

That said, if the price is horrendous and you will be in a large group, it might not be worth it for you, depending on the experience you are hoping to get. If the group is small, you are allowed the leeway and time to wander, and you want to experience the history and deep time of the place, then it could be utterly amazing.

Thanks for the replies. It's about $50 USD more to do the "inner circle tour" - around $180 v. 130 Windsor and Stonehenge with and without "inner circle tour." We decided to do the "inner circle tour" and get the "full" experience.
