We would like to go to Stonehenge as a day trip and looked at London Walks as RS recommends them. They don't have any tours for the week we will be there (March 17-23). Any recommendations for other companies? Thank you
Evan Evans does day tours to Stonehenge. I think we might have combined our Stonehenge tour with another tour the same day. We have done numerous day tours with them.
Several tour companies offer day tours from London to Stonehenge, some include Bath and/or Windsor also. Just google day trips to Stonehenge to see the possibilities. You can check on TA for reviews of any of them to get an idea of what people say about them.
The other poster's suggestion of Evan Evans tours is good, they're very popular and get good reviews.
Evan Evans is the only London tour operator I've found with a Stonehenge-only tour. I think it runs around 60 pounds per person. Opting for public transport doesn't save much money as it requires a train and taxi.
Actually if you take a train to Salisbury there is a dedicated public bus that you can take out to the stones from the train station and from the city center. No need for a taxi. But you probably still won't come out ahead money-wise.
I did a tour to Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor Castle this past October. It was with Viator or Viatour? ( not sure of the spelling) or Evan Evans. I have used both companies and would recommend either one.
