I had a tour scheduled with Mad Max from Bath to Stonehenge and Cotswolds in a couple of weeks. They had to cancel and offered an all day Cotswold instead. Two questions, it seems like an all day Cotswold would be a bit much, not enough to do. Has anyone been on this tour and what are your thoughts? I like to be on the go, and do and see a lot. We really wanted to see Stonehenge or Avebury, can anyone recommend a tour company from Bath, or should we try public transportation? We can only go on a Sunday (summer solstice activities at Stonehenge on the 21st are messing up our plans!) and due to non refundable train tickets that I just bought, our days aren't flexible. Appreciate your input, as always!
The other popular tour company from Bath is Lion Tours. They also do small group tours, pick you up in Bath at the same spot, and have similar tour itineraries. I took Mad Max (and enjoyed it) but I have seen other people post positive things about the Lion Tours.
There are trains from Bath to Salisbury and from there busses to Stonehenge.
besides an interesting Cathedral, Salisbury has charm . http://www.visitwiltshire.co.uk/explore/salisbury-and-surroundings/top-10-things-to-do-for-free-in-salisbury
You could explore these after Stonehenge prior to your train back to Bath.
Mad Max has been so helpful, they even called Lions to see if they had anything open and said they'd arrange for me, makes me want to go with Mad Max! Lions doesn't have anything when I can go, anyone use Scarper tours?
Thanks for your help all!
