Stonehenge and Windsor Castle tour

We are looking for a tour that 1st goes to Stonehenge and then goes to Windsor castle. The thought is that we would go to Stonehenge 1st and tour Windsor castle, then leave the tour and check out the town taking the train back

Plan "B" Just use public transportation for the whole adventure

Plan "C" rent a car

Plan "D" UBER

What do you people think?

I would pick "Plan E" which is not to do them on the same day. You can do both of these with public transport but not on the same day.

I'd be shocked if you could get an UBER to take you from London to Stonehenge but maybe you could. It's 80+ miles and about a 1h45m-2h drive.

How many days do you have in London? Asking that to see if you have time to give them enough time for a reasonable visit to each.

We will be there for 5 full days,
I have been to london before my other half has not.
Thank you for your suggestions... Train to Salisbury sounds interesting (Wasn't on the list (but could be added), .....
Is it realistic to rent a car for the day, which would be interesting, since the first time I stepped off the sidewalk, I was almost run over. Driving to stonehindge and bath and on another day Winsor.

TOO MANY CHOICES!!!!

Thank you and keep those ideas flowing

If you decide on the train for a Stonehenge visit, you'd take the train to Salisbury. From there you can catch the local shuttle out to the stones. It's called the "Stonehenge Tour" but it's not really a "tour". They pick up at the station and in the City Center and are run by the local bus company, The Salisbury Reds.

The shuttle drops you at the Visitor Center at Stonehenge. When I went a number of years ago the driver hopped off the bus and bought us the entry tickets then distributed them. You get back on the bus at the same time, it goes back to Salisbury via Old Sarum which is interesting.

It can be done on a day tour from London. I took one to the stones then it went to Windsor. I left the tour in Windsor and took the train back to London. I used Evans Tours.

At Salisbury be sure to stop at the Salisbury Cathederal. The bus that goes out to Stonehenge returns close by the cathedral. I know just another cathedral right? Nope. They have an original Magna Carta off to the side. Not very many copies of the Magna Carta are still around. Just looked it up...4 copies only are left
