Is anyone familiar with the Stoke Newington area of London? What is the vibe and how is the public transportation? There is no tube, only bus, so I am concerned it may be inaccessible from central London. We would be staying for two weeks by a home exchange. Thanks!
There is no tube but there are frequent railway trains to Liverpool Street station in central London. It's most famous in London for its very large and visible Hasidic Jewish population, and is now generally very multiethnic and also a bit hipsterfied. No big tourist attractions, but an interesting area to stay.
You could have a squint at the immediate neighborhood using Streetview.
