Steep climb in Greenwich Question

What is best way to access the Royal Observeratory?
My mom is 76 and in relatively good condition but I keep reading about the steep climb. This will be our first day in England so don't want to wear anyone out if there is an alternative.
Thanks!

I remember that steep walk. This page from their website says there's another path that takes longer but is less steep. http://www.rmg.co.uk/royal-observatory/facilities-access It says in part:

There are two routes through Greenwich Park to the Royal Observatory
and Planetarium and these are signposted from the Sammy Ofer Wing park
gates. The main walking route follows the path directly up the hill
and takes up to 13 minutes. This includes a short pause to take in the
view of the city half way up the path.

The less steep route, which we particularly recommend for wheelchair
users, takes approximately 25 minutes. This timing is based on an
adult pushing an adult wheelchair user and taking a short break along
the route.

Alternatively, paid public car parking is available in Greenwich Park
at the top of the hill.

The short walk is steep, not to be underestimated. You could get a taxi up, and walk down. You can also roll down the grass bank on your side... Which your mum might enjoy watching you do :o)

Mike, I thought it might be possible to take a taxi to the top. Thanks for confirming that.

A taxi sounds like a great plan! My teenagers might enjoy rolling to the bottom but I'm thinking that I'll skip it!
I think I'll look it over once get there but a taxi up AND down might be best for my mom.
Thanks!
