Staying near Kennington Park

We are in the early stages of planning a 14 day London trip for June/July 2023, a first trip to the UK for all of us. One of the items we need to determine is where to stay. We're (Me, spouse, 2 teenaged kids) looking to book an airbnb so we can have access to a kitchen to do some home cooking and have extra space to spread out. Our travel style tends to be to be on the go all day and then relax at our home base at night, eating lunch out and cooking dinner in. We don't mind staying out of the city center as long as we're near public transit to get us where we are looking to go during the day.

In looking at rental options, I've seen several in the Kennington area, near the Oval tube stop. Has anyone stayed in this area before? Any thoughts, pros or cons, on using this area of London as a base for exploring the city? It looks convenient to trains/busses, has large grocery stores nearby, and would be no more than 30-45 minutes to most sites we're interested in seeing.

Should be fine albeit a bit aways from the sites. Just know transport time will eat up some of your exploration.

As you aren’t going till next year might be good to continue to keep looking for accommodations. Besides Airbnb …use Booking,Com and Vrbo.

Great city. Enjoy your first visit.

Thanks for the feedback. We're still in the early stages of our trip planning so right now I'm just looking for lodging options, not booking anything until we know the exact dates. I found a few options on VRBO but I hadn't thought to look at booking.com, I'll check them out too. Just for comparison, a few other areas I've been looking at include:

Notting Hill area (might be a little higher in price than some of the other areas)
Earl's Court (low supply, but I found a few places that would work)
Camden Town (love the idea of being right near the market but it might be too noisy at night?)

Area around Waterloo station, Lambeth North and Elephant and Castle
