Staying in stow on the wold

I know all about walking down to the slaughters and to bourbon on the water. Sounds like a perfect day. Is there another area I can do easily without a car. Would it be possible to take a bus to chipping Norton and walk back to Stow?. It’s my favorite thing to do is walk Village to Village. It is a bit tricky using the buses. Or from the train in kingham is there a nice walk back to stow?. Open too easy ideas.

I apologize for going so far off topic, but am I the only person who, upon seeing the name of this village, immediately envisages toad-in-the-hole?

Stow on the Wold of course has no station.

But you could take bus #802 to Kingham Station at 1028 then walk back via Lower Oddington, Upper Oddington, Maugersbury and St Edward's Well to Stow.

From St Martin's Hill to Maugersbury Turn there is about 400 yards of road walking with no sidewalk. Walk facing on coming traffic. Or time it around the Wednesday Villager buses through the Oddingtons.

The other non road way from the Oddingtons is via Broadwell.

About 3 hours. If you wanted to lengthen the walk then divert between Upper Oddington and Maugersbury via Icomb and Icomb Place.

To walk to Chipping Norton I would suggest taking the #802 in the other direction (or the #801) to Bourton on the Water then the Oxfordshire Way long distance footpath to Kingham Station (a totally different route) and up through Kingham and Churchill villages to Chipping Norton. Quite a long day.
Then the #801 direct back to Stow. (or of course in reverse)
