Stay in London or Stay in Oxford?

I have a client traveling for a state dinner at Bleinhim Palace. He is not driving once in England. Which is smarter? Should I have a hotel in Oxford or should I book a hotel in London and have him take transit to Oxford? If so, could you give me step by step directions on getting him from London to Oxford. Since it is a dinner and concert, should I have him stay in Oxford for the night and return to London the next day or is there adequate transit (late evening) to get him back into London to his hotel?

If it's a dinner and concert, I would think it's easier / smarter to get back to a hotel in Oxford in the late evening than it would be to get to Oxford and then get to London if not driving.

London to Oxford is a direct train from Paddington Station, I believe. Google "London to Oxford train" and you will find it.

I haven't been to Blenheim Palace but recall that it was a bus ride away. Check the Blenheim Palace website to see details of "how to get there". At that time of night, likely few bus options. I would book a car service. Especially for a client!

The last train from Oxford to London gets in a bit after 2am, leaving a bit before half midnight. Probably not.

Not sure if people arrive for state dinners at Blenheim on the bus at Woodstock, so I guess you would be looking for a central Oxford hotel, and a private hire car or taxi from there. Pre-book a return,

Train from London to Oxford from Paddington or Marylebone. Only those from Paddington offers First Class, although there isn't much to be had over a bigger seat for the hour journey.

The Randolph in Oxford sounds like what you require plus a car service.
