Any advice about staying or not staying in the Docklands area? How long does it take on the DTR to get into other main sites?

We recently stayed at the Doubletree in the Docklands. I was somewhat concerned about the location, but was a reasonable rate with a room for four people. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to reach the sites we were going to. The free shuttle across to Canary Wharf ran every 15 minutes and the Canary Wharf tube run on the Jubilee line with convenient access to downtown. I would stay there again.
