Starting to plan for September

Good morning all, my two adult kids and will be -sing it Willie- 🎶 on the road again 🎶 in September to see more of England. We will start by taking the bus from LHR to Oxford, hopefully get there by lunchtime and spend the night that Saturday. We will have as much of the next day as we want before heading to Chipping Camden Sunday to check into our cottage. We have 6 nights there, leaving Saturday am, when we will train back to London for two nights. We fly home Monday am.

I am starting to put together a plan for the Cotswolds part and would really appreciate your input. We want to spend some of our days doing independent walks, some circular, maybe one to a village and taxi or bus back. How many will depend on my endurance, lol. Or, they just may leave me on a stump somewhere while they continue onward! I also thought one day we could maybe book a tour with Go Cotswolds! to see more as we will only be using public transport.

After reading the recent thread on all of the National Trust sites, it struck me how many relatively unknown, yet beautiful places there are in the UK, and how by asking a simple single question, it provides up a wealth of great information for everyone to learn about. So, I’m curious whether there are some hidden gems in this area of England that you all could point me to so I can add them to the mix to consider visiting. With our early - mid September timeline I was hoping to avoid the crowds, but - fingers crossed- enjoy nice weather for spending as much time outdoors as possible.

Anyway, with basically five full days, what would be your suggestions for me to consider? I know it’s not a ton of time, but if I can plan it well I hope to enjoy many different experiences with these two. I would love to hear about some different options. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and advice!

Just a few of my favorites from the Cotswolds: Sudley Castle, Hidcote Gardens, very easy walk from Upper Slaughter to Lower Slaughter or a bit longer from Upper Slaughter to Bourton-on-the-Water, afternoon tea at Tisane's in Broadway or Lucy's in Stow-on-the-Wold.
