Hi all! Looking at the Triforium Tour. I'm not concerned about steps per se, just the fear of heights (fear of falling, right?). On a scale of 1 (easy peasy) to 10 (can't move my feet, sir), are all of the levels the same? Also, could I do the first level galleries without continuing higher?
Thanks
Bob
I haven't done the Triforium tour so no input on that. Re: climbing to the galleries, yes, you can opt out after the first level. The stairs to get to the first level Whispering Gallery are wide and the staircase is very open - worthwhile, good exercise, and a historic place to see. The second set of steps up to the Stone Gallery was much narrower and kinda claustrophobic, but there were seats along the way where you could stop and take a breath. I decided the wise decision was to stop there and go back down rather than making it to the Golden Gallery.
I have a fear of heights myself and I don't think I could do it. Here is one site that shows some photos of the tour, and looking at those, I don't think it would work for me as it's so open. If it were narrow stairs in a completely closed area, it might be okay, but looking at these stairs where you can look all the way below would do me in. https://bryan-jones.com/st-pauls-cathedral-triforium-tour/
With regards to doing just the first level galleries, I would imagine they have tourists who can't go any higher and have to turn back from time to time, so I would think that it's possible.
