Did the cafe in the crypt of St. Paul's close? I remember it being a great spot to catch a quick bite, but am noticing that Rick doesn't mention it in the newest London book, and I'm getting inconsistent info. on the web. Thanks for your help!!
The website seems fine.

I ate there Sept. of last year and though it was great.
Thanks for the reply, but I remember there being one in St. Paul’s Cathedral, not St. Martin’s as you reference. I know that one is there. Thanks, anyway. I appreciate you taking time to respond! Maybe my memory is just faulty. It’s been 16 years since I was last there!
I don’t remember seeing it a few years ago.
I know we ate in the cafe at St. Martins but don't remember if they have a cafe in St. Paul' s when we were there two years ago.
I've just spoken with staff at St Pauls - the café was closed during the pandemic and hasn't reopened. There are hopes to reopen at some time but no current plans.

That’s a shame. I do hope it gets reopened in fairly short order. We did a whole weekend in London visiting the various cafes and restaurants in London churches. ‘Ecclesiastical Dining’ we coined it! It’s amazing what you can find beneath or behind the ‘business end’ of churches! Reasonably priced too if my memory serves!

Oops!
I was focused on the Cafe in the Crypt part.
My wife and I visited St Paul's in December. There was a stand in the Crypt selling hot beverages and snacks. Plenty of seats and an interesting gift shop.
@IanandJulie! I LOVE the thought of Ecclesiastical Dining! That will make me laugh all day. I do look for the smaller churches that have a small cafe for lunches. I had a memorable lunch at possibly St. Bartholomew the Great near Smithfield Market a number of years ago. I don't see anything on it's website about a cafe but Covid may have canceled that too.
Thanks for your responses!! Too bad it closed. It was a great spot to get the blood sugar up after sightseeing!
however, for a nice bowl of coffee and excellent breakfast French pastries there is a Paul in the passage (St Pauls Churchyard) near the Temple Bar (gate) and through the Temple Bar is Paternoster Square which has a $tarbuck$ and a Pret a Manger, so with a little money or tap you won't go hungry....
Thank you, Nigel! I think we might just do that!
