We are arriving into St Pancras from Gatwick in June and next day Eurostar to Brussels. We will just have a few hrs to see anything worthwhile near the St pancras station and our hotel .Any ideas welcome.

What date/day of week and what time to do you anticipate reaching the hotel?

Will you be arriving after an overnight flight, or just coming in on a short hop?

Where’s the hotel? Helps when suggesting what you can see.

The British Library is almost next to the station. It’s exhibit “treasures of the British Library”. Is quite varied, includes two copies of the Magna Carta, and is free. It would be a great spot to spend an hour or so.

I did something very similar last month, arriving at Gatwick, train to St. Pancras, overnight and then on with my journey the next day. I thought it worked quite well.

June 22 is a Thursday. The British Library is open till 8 PM on Thursdays, so that's something you can do late on the day you get to London. The Wellcome Collection, a science museum, is open until 9 PM. The regular closing time of the National Gallery is 6 PM, though they'll probably start ushering people out by 5:45.

London Walks offers excellent walking tours for just 15 GBP (less for students and youngsters). There are quite a few tours starting around 2 PM and three between 6:30 and 7:30 PM. London Walks calendar for June 22

You could also go to the theatre.

The British Library Treasures also include illuminated manuscripts, a wide assortment of maps dating back centuries, significant printed works, exhibits on prominent writers, and a display case with Beatles artifacts. It belongs on most folks’ itineraries, even if they’re not as close to St. Pancras station as you’ll be.

From Kings Cross St Pancras take an Underground Victoria Line train ( use your tap credit or debit card) to Victoria Station. About 12 minute ride. Exit and then board a District Line train to Westminster. Exit and walk over to Parliament Square. ( Parliament and Westminster Abbey. From there walk across Westminster Bridge. Probably crowded but good look at Parliament with Elizabeth’s Tower. If on the hour you’ll hear Big Ben.

Once on the other side of the Thames follow the river path to the London Eye. Photo ops. Keep walking past the buskers and Jubilee Gardens. Take the stairs up to the Golden Jubilee Bridge. Walk back over the Thames to the Embankment Underground station. Board a Northern Line train heading to Leicester Square and then board the next Piccadilly line train headed towards Cockfosters . Get off at St Pancras/Kings Cross. Walk back to your hotel.

Might be too much depending on your stamina so as suggested consider visiting the British Library. You could also wander about Granary Square then walk along the canal path.

Hi from Wisconsin,
Responders have been hammering this home already...the British Library! And if you need a place to stay across the street from the library is a Premier Inn. Clean, Quiet, Safe and a reasonable price for London.

The free exhibit at the BL is pretty amazing. The Anglo-Saxon Chronicles, The Woods Charter, Fleming's notes as he discovers penicillin, the Beatles, Jane Austin, Charles Dickens. it is over whelming the history in one spot.

Enjoy. Oh and St. Pancras is a nice station.

Short walk up the road to Regent's Canal: scenic stroll along the canal, and redeveloped Coal Drops Yard full of great restaurants and shops.
