While surfing around this morning I saw an article saying that St,James’s Place will be open for exclusive tours on select weekends starting Spring 2025. I can’t recall the source (Time out London??) but now see a short blurb on Londontopia dot net.. Please research this yourselves as I didn’t pay much attention since we’re not traveling for some time. I apologize if I am misinformed.
Has this palace ever been open to the public? I wasn’t aware it was on a few past trips to London. It will go on future lists if so. Safe travels.
Here is the TimeOut article:
According to the article "Following successful trial tours in 2023, you lucky lot will be able to sneak a peak at the gold-gilded opulence of St James’s Palace as soon as next spring. "
Hopefully my next time in London coincides with an open weekend and I can score a visit. Fingers crossed.
Not sure about the palace, but I went to a Sunday service at its chapel a few years ago. We had intended on going to The Queen's Chapel for a service, but it was closed that day, so we were directed to the palace’s chapel.

That's something I'd like to do - have been meaning to but never managed it. Do you remember where you entered the palace for the service? I understand during the summer months the service is held at the Queen's Chapel and during winter at the Chapel Royal, but have never been.
We entered by the door/gate at 29 Cleveland Row. That’s where Cleveland row intersects with St. James’s street. Once through the gate turn left, then left again. There were palace employees directing us where to go. The chapel is small and we appeared to be the only non-regular attendees there. We did wear nice clothes.
