St. Giles London

I have booked a week here for this spring. The reviews are so mixed i am not sure if I should change it or not. It is a great location and good price. Being as I've read about the small rooms I booked the executive suite. Does anyone have experience with this hotel?

Years and years ago friends of mine stayed there. I think it was originally a YMCA and is a hotel where a lot of tour groups stay. It is perfectly located near the British Museum and the tube from Heathrow (Piccadilly line) stops close by.

I have never stayed there.

BUT: it is a hotel that often comes up within budget when I book travel for work (it’s near one of our offices) and there’s this advice given by my colleagues: never stay at the St Giles even though the price & location look good. I haven’t probed why, but it’s just sort of folk knowledge that’s been passed down! So I usually end up at one of the similarly-priced Grange Hotels instead.

The location is great if you plan to go to theatre often in the evening. The property is satisfactory; we've stayed there 2 times. If you can get an inexpensive price (under £90), then why not. Otherwise, it's not worth it.
