St Agnes to Tintagel return same day

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help. I've decided to get a cheap flight from Portsmouth to Newquay if I can and would like to stay in St Agnes overnight but if not Newquay. Is there a bus service from the airport to St Agnes and could anyone point me to the timetable. A taxi would be more convenient but not sure how expensive it would be. I intend to go see Tintagel that same day if it's fine and perhaps Port Isaac before heading south as I intend to spend at least 3/4 days in Cornwall exploring the coast down and around to Megavissey. What would be the easiest way to get to Tintagel. I was thinking of a bus tour but I think they leave from Newquay. Because I'd rather stay in St Agnes or even perhaps Porth I was wondering what other options there might be. Don't really want to hire a car in Cornwall. Thanks.

I presume you're not referring to Portsmouth, England as there hasn't been an airport here since 1973!

Public transport to Newquay airport is "limited" (Euphanism for @#§¬¢). The times ramblin' on quoted are from the bus station in Newquay, not the airport.
I am tempted to say it would be easier to take the train from Portsmouth to Newquay, especially after JC's comment about Portsmouth airport.

Current air routes to Newquay airport are listed here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornwall_Airport_Newquay#Airlines_and_destinations

Aer Lingus Regional Dublin. Seasonal: Cork
Eurowings Seasonal: Berlin-Tegel (begins 5 May 2018), Düsseldorf, Stuttgart (begins 31 March 2018)
Flybe London-Gatwick, Leeds/Bradford, Manchester. Seasonal: Aberdeen, Belfast-City, Birmingham, Doncaster/Sheffield, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London-Stansted, Newcastle upon Tyne
Isles of Scilly Skybus St Mary's
Ryanair Alicante. Seasonal: Faro, Hahn

As for buses, there is a good map showing all bus routes in Cornwall here: https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/media/28933622/countymap.pdf
This is the Cornwall county site, listing all bus companies. The main page, with links to the timetables is here: https://www.cornwall.gov.uk/transport-and-streets/public-transport/public-transport-information-and-advice/cornwall-public-transport-guide-and-town-plans/

Oops JC. Yes, I meant Southhampton. sorry. Looking at my options. Thinking of doing a loop from Portsmouth/Southhampton to Tintagel and round and back to Salisbury on the train to do that leg I was going to do after Portsmouth. Still figuring it out. Thought a cheap flight to Cornwall might make it possible time wise. Don't want to waste best part of a day on the train and driving that distance is out for me. Is that doable do you think? I'm beginning to rely on your good sense, JC. Will need your advice on how to get to Southhampton airport too but I'll figure out if I have time to explore Cornwall first before getting down to that detail.

Many thanks for those links, Chris. I'll check them out and see what I can figure out.

No flights from Southampton airport to Newquay either, London-Gatwick would be your nearest option.
But, by the time you got to the airport, checked in, and got out of Newquay airport, I think it would be a lot easier to take the train or drive.

Thanks Chris. I had the impression there was from other travel sites but seems the info must have been out of date. Perhaps I should fly directly to Cornwall from London then and start my tour of south England from there. Will have a rethink.
