Southern England/Isle of Wight

Planning travel to circumnavigate England by car. As part of the southern segment we're thinking of spending a few days on Isle of Wight before heading to Salisbury and points north. (Canterbury -Dover- Hastings- Beachy Head-overnight Alfriston; then to Portsmouth-followed by ferry to Isle of Wight)
This will be a "rest stop" with a chance to enjoy scenery and take walks. We want to stay in one the coastal villages with easy access to Coastal Foot Path, anyone have a suggestion?

Carol beat me to it. I am a big fan of HF Holidays and their country house and walking program on the Isle of Wight look very tempting.

Thank you! HF Holidays is an option but the cottages on the National Trust are so charming! How to choose?

Hi, I've heard that it is no longer necessary to buy an Oyster card, as you can use your credit card with a chip and just tap your card to deduct the fare. Is it more cost effective to use the oyster card? I was planning to buy one at Heathrow airport until I heard that you can use any credit card with a chip?

Is the London Pass worth the price? I'm considering buying a 3 day pass, but not sure it's really a cost saver. what is your experience? thank you

Welcome to the forums. When you have a different question it is helpful if you start a new thread. Otherwise, people may not see your questions which is what I think happened here. I am not an expert on contactless vs. oyster but my understanding is that they both have caps associated with them so costs are the same. The only way to know if the London Pass is a good deal is to list out the specific sights you plan to see and compare the total admission costs with the cost of the pass. It is more likely to be a good deal for a solo traveler who can’t take advantage of “2 for 1” offers than a couple.

thanks for recommending to start a new thread when asking a question unrelated to the subject. I could not find a process to start a new thread. Thank you, csbpa
