Last two days in two country tour (England and Wales) in May. I would appreciate suggestions on location central to both Brighton and Canterbury as they are the last on my to do list. Would you recommend London and day trips or stays elsewhere? My final day will be in the LHR hotel strip and do not think I will have any last minute sightseeing.

Rye, it's a beautiful seaport village, would be a great village to end your trip in.
I would stay in London if you intend to do day trips to Brighton and Canterbury. There are rail lines around the south-east, but they are slow local trains, and staying on the coast somewhere between the two would not be very practical. It might be easier if you have a hire car.

Thank you for your input. Hopefully the three days in London at the beginning will suffice. Will be taking train to Heathrow from Canterbury on our last remembrance of this beautiful island.

If you have a car, you might want to try Tenterden in Kent, a pretty town in the Weald.
