Are you staying overnight in Southampton or heading back somewhere?
To be honest, while there is a decent seafaring museum and some old walls, it’s not a city with a huge amount for a tourist.

We are staying the night in Southampton after the Southampton v Man City game (12/30/18); then headed to London the next morning (12/31/18).

Southampton doesn't offer much, it's a drab, port city. What time of year is it? Assuming it's a 3 pm kick off you won't have much time to go anywhere else such as the New Forest. Perhaps a show at The Mayflower? www.mayflower.org.uk
