We have a free day April 12 in Southampton and I'm thinking we would enjoy Osborne House on Isle of Wight. We are in our late 70s so we aren't looking for a lot of transfers, something relatively easy. Is there a way to do this? It looks like tours start in London, it would be great it I could something from Southampton. I'm surprised I haven't been able to find anything. Appreciate any suggestions.
You might check to see if there is a tour leaving from Portsmouth .
You really do not need a tour to Osborne House from Southampton.
Take the red funnel ferry every hour from 0500 to East Cowes (journey time 60 minutes) then bus #4 or 5 which run 5 times an hour between them to Osborne House- journey time 6 minutes.
The last ferry back is at 0130 the following morning.
The buses run from the Waitrose Supermarket just two minutes walk up the road from East Cowes ferry terminal.
These are the big vehicle ferries. In Southampton they leave from the Town Quay- which is only just down the road from the Dock Gate which you use for the three main cruise terminals.
Sounds like a nice plan ! Thanks for the suggestion. It is reassuring to know the bus is close to the dock!
