South or go to Bath?

Hi friends! Deep in the plans for my solo trip to England (first time there!) yet feeling very overwhelmed with where to pin drop myself without a car for 7 nights.

I am considering Lewes-Bath-Oxford then back to Lewes since I am flying round trip out of Gatwick.

Or should I focus on Lewes-Hastings-Rye for the week to limit transit times?

Way too much goodness to choose from out there!

any mobility issues? Bath has hills, Oxford has places with stones or cobble but also pavers and asphalt, Rye has cobbles and stones.

Which era would you like to be transported to? Have any of the places you have mentioned particularly called to you, or have specific things you want to see? For example, Blenheim Palace is very convenient by city bus from Oxford.

No mobility issues gratefully, I am just very inexperienced with public transit and hoping to have plenty of time for photography and taking it all in :)

Right now I am planning to do 2 nights in the Seven Sisters area, head to Bath for 3 or 4 nights to fit in a Cotswolds day tour or maybe even just be content visiting Lacock on my own. Then leave from Bath to Oxford for one night..then Oxford to Lewes to spend my last night close to Gatwick.

I'm 33 (funny enough I work on the same street as Rick Steves in Edmonds haha) and looking forward to a city such as Bath. But also heavily into nature and peaceful photography. So if I would have to sacrifice Bath and instead see the New Forest region while staying more based near Lewes/Eastbourne I would be just as happy. A little overly excited and all overt the place :)

I don't think you can go wrong with either of those two choices. If you do end up going to Bath/Oxford, you can still get plenty of "countryside", for example this walk in Bath. The great thing about UK is that there are lovely walks everywhere, even in big cities!

One thing you may want to find out though - and I will let others chime in here - is whether public transportation will be easier in Bath/Oxford than in Hastings/Rye.

Your trip sounds very exciting!
