UPDATE - yet another Rail strike - DLR and Piccadilly Line - Nov 3,4

The RMT Union is planning a strike on the DLR (Docklands Light Railway) in London.

They haven't announced a date or dates yet, and there is no indication what damage a strike would do to riders' plans.

The DLR is the automated adjunct to the Underground in East London and Greenwich.

Much of the area reached by the DLR is duplicated by Underground lines, buses and heavy Rail.

Stay tuned, particularly if you will be in the East London, Docklands, and Greenwich areas.

Nigel, this is the second strike you've reported on... Remember... It's three strikes and you're out!

UPDATE -

A 48 hour strike has been called for next week on the DLR. This will be from 4am next Tuesday (November 3) through 4am on Thursday (November 5) and is likely to shut down the entire DLR network for those days.

To those who often question the legitimacy of train strikes in the UK, I will say that 92% of all affected staff of all grades voted in favour.

It is uncertain if the union (RMT) will also call a matching strike on the Piccadilly Line. They have said that they are likely to do that so that the two strikes reinforce each other. When I have more information I will post it here.

The Piccadilly Line is very important to people on this board going to and from Heathrow.

The DLR isn't usually used my most London tourists, but its closure will knock on crowds onto the Underground lines left.
