Soho Hotel recommendations?

Greetings - My husband and I are celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in London from April 14-28. We hope to stay in the Soho area, at a hotel/B&B that serves a good breakfast. I looked at the Celtic which was recommended on the forum, but the available rooms aren't right for us. Can somebody recommend a similar place? Thanks so much for your help!

How about the Resident Soho? I have not stayed in this particular one but others in the small chain. Highly recommended.

They don't have a breakfast room but you can order from a local cafe and it will be delivered to your room. Every room has a small kitchenette.

Or, you will easily find numerous places for breakfast nearby.

If you do book here, let them know that it is your anniversary. They have been know to come up with surprises--decorating your room, free bottles of wine or proseco, etc.

Become a "member." It's free and you will save up to 15%.

The Celtic was my go to hotel for many years, but it isn't Soho, its Bloomsbury (other side of Oxford Street; other side of Tottenham Court Road / Charing Cross Road). So if you were willing to extend into Bloomsbury, perhaps you'd extend into Covent Garden, in which case I can recommend the Hub by Premier Inn Covent Garden. The rooms won't be for everyone, so check the website, but the location and the value are unbeatable.

Thank you! I'm still very unclear on the geography, but will check both recommendations out. Thanks again!

I'm still very unclear on the geography.

Precise “borders” don’t really exist and to be honest don’t matter much as anywhere around there is good.

Roughly speaking, Soho is the area south of Oxford Street and west of Tottenham Court Road. North of Oxford Street is Fitzrovia (kind of from Tottenham Court Road west to Portland Place) then Marylebone is west of Portland Place, still north of Oxford Street.

Bloomsbury is the area east of Tottenham Court Road and north of New Oxford Street. South of Bloomsbury you’ll find St Giles which merges into the Covent Garden/Seven Dials area.

Soho and Covent Garden are very busy and bustling - Soho in particular is full of restaurants, including some very late opening ones.

Bloomsbury is quieter - it’s the area with the British Museum, lots of university buildings. Good transport links with Euston & Kings Cross just north. Fitzrovia is weirdly quiet and untouristed - cafes, a remnant of the rag trade (wholesale fashion), the big BBC building. Marylebone has a nice slightly villagey feel.

Hope that helps!
