soccer (football tours or trips)?

Is there a reputable company that will organize multiple soccer games in the UK?

I’m totally happy to organize flights and accommodation, but I need help with the soccer. Past games we have had to join the soccer club as a member and it’s been complicated.

It is illegal to sell football tickets unless you are the Football Club or its authorised partner.

If there are specific teams you want to see, I would look at hospitality packages. They will be pricier but usually include food and drinks. Back in 2019, my friend got he and I tickets using his Chase credit card - they were hospitality and he was able to cover it using points.

If you just want to try and get regular tickets, you will have to join the club and even then you are not guaranteed tickets. I am an Arsenal supporter and was lucky enough to get a ticket through their ballot system for this coming Tuesday's match vs Newcastle (it was about $40 USD).

If there are officially affiliated supporters clubs in your area, join, they generally get a small allocation of tickets for their members.

I am a member of the Official Liverpool Supporters Club Durham Region and we get notice twice a year about games they have allocation for. Its not many. In the case of Liverpool you must also be a full Red member with the Club to be eligible.

you haven't had much action on your similar - I think - question in the Italy Forum. I think the answers will be similar.

you haven't said how many in your group or which flight you are interested in or approximate dates. In either post. Can you help us out?

I don’t have dates as of yet and this would be for 2 people.

The last time I saw games in England my son became a member of the club and bought tickets and we all went together.

It sounds as though this is the approach I’ll have to use this time too.

Firstly, what level of game do you want to see? The Premier League will always be challenging to get tickets for, especially in London. Memberships are a possible route but that can still be difficult, even harder if you want tickets together. Hospitality can be a way to get round this, but at a significant or even astonishing price.

However, if you’re happy to look at the EFL Championship or Leagues 1 and 2, you should be able to get tickets at will and even by walking up at the games.

I assume that you know that games can be moved for live TV coverage? Any plans need to take changes into account. Games are currently fixed up until the end of February. Also bear in mind that there is an international break at end of March which often clashes with Spring Break for US visitors.

I don't have an allegiance to any particular team in London (Celtic, Accies), but Leyton Orient are my local team. They'd be worth seeing for some solid League One fixtures without too much worry about ticket availability. I have a hankering to see Millwall at some point. I imagine some Millwall fixtures would have a similar rough and ready crowd as you might get at games up in Glasgow.

I was right by Orient’s ground this morning Gerry, taking our granddaughter swimming at Leyton pool.
I was also at Millwall just before Christmas watching my team lose. You’re right about the experience. Although I have no experience of Glasgow grounds I imagine a lot of similarities. No airs and graces, lively banter, a world away from the London Premier League grounds and all the better for it.

"Carlisle United, in League 2, are one you should always be able to just walk up to. (For anyone on Hadrian's Wall or in the Lake District)."

Hardly surprising as they are plum bottom of League 2 and heading for none league for a second time, Ian. This time around there is no Jimmy Glass in sight to save them.

I have been to Brunton Park umpteen times as an away fan and its got to be one the one most unwelcoming grounds I have routinely been. Including Millwall and Cardiff.

Very few clubs even at L2 and National League accept cash over the turnstile and you have to find the ticket office or book on line.

secure tickets without jumping through hoops and paying huge amounts of money.

other than adding the train fare there and back to the top left corner of the English mainland, and a hotel, and the time to go so far.

We just went to the Fulham vs. Ipswich Town premier league game this past Sunday while we are here in London. I bought the hospitality tickets for it a while back. I bought them on the Fulham club team website. Seeing a premier league game was a bucket list item for my husband who professionally refereed “soccer” in our city in the states. He did not have a preference for what teams to see, he just wanted to experience a game here. So to guarantee that we could go I opted for the hospitality package and it was worth it. My husband enjoyed the whole experience and I was happy that we had a warm lounge to hang out in before and after the game and had good viewing seats in the stadium. Yes it was pricey, but for a once in a lifetime experience it worth it!

did you enjoy watching the Tractor Boys fighting so hard?

Nigel: I enjoyed the game though this was much more my husband’s thing. He thought the game was ok, but enjoyed the entire experience of it all very much. One thing that surprised me was that though we were at Fulham, the section where the Ipswich fans sat was way louder and had more “songs” than the home crowd. We expected it to be the opposite of that.

Watched my club (Leeds United) play at Craven Cottage a few years back, what a wonderful ground (unfortunately Leeds lost that one - got seats in the home stand, had to be careful when we scored). Also saw a match at Orient as it was the closest club to where my sister was living at the time.

How did you enjoy your game at Leyton Orient? Would you recommend it to a visitor who isn't seeing a Premier League game in London?

csolinda- your experience re away fans would not be unusual. Away fans are almost all louder per person than home fans. They are the most passionate fans and will always make plenty of noise, especially on Sunday when Ipswich were in front for most of the game and in their position even a draw was a great result for them. It’s also Ipswich’s first season in the Premier League for a long time.

Fulham is a nice ground to watch football but the fans are not the most passionate as well. Where you have gone to the reverse fixture at Ipswich the home fans would have been louder almost however the game went.

Thank you John. We were really curious about that. I will say even though the Fulham fans weren’t loud, I did enjoy hearing the whole Ipswich group loudly chanting/singing. We also loved the stadium being right there next to the river.

@GerryM - I really enjoyed the match at Leyton Orient. Totally different vibe watching a lower league match than a Prem or even a Championship match. I ordered my ticket ahead of time, and picked it up on match day. For the princely sum of £1, I gained admittance pre-match into the supporters pub at the ground. Colchester United were the visitors that day, and even their fans were allowed into the pub pre-match, something you would never see at the Premier League level. Everyone got along fine. Colchester were the winners on the day though, 3-1. That was a Boxing Day match as well, as I recall.

Great! I really should get to a game this season. It's really not far for visitors coming from central London. Leyton on the Central Line on the tube or Midland Road from Liverpool Street on The Overground.

I'm glad that the Tractor Boys and their supporters kept you amused. They may not win much now that they went up, and they really really could have used the full 3 points, but they do have a very loyal, and vocal, band of supporters. I don't support them but it is entertaining to watch them on the box - full coverage of goals on BBC-East when they play.
