A friend and I will be walking from Bourton on the Water to London in September. I have all inn reservations except Oxford and Bourton. We want to stay in the city/village (not outside), above or very near an authentic pub, love old charm and dislike renovated modern, and want to spend no more than 85pounds. Any thoughts? Thanks.
Here is a couple B&Bs in Bourton-on-the-Water......Chestnut B&B... Manor Close B&B
Are you walking along the river and canal network or through fields or on roads?
Avoid Oxford Hotel near the Oxford station.
Last September we stayed at Keble College in Oxford. Interesting setting, adequate room, near at least 2 pubs.
We are walking the Oxfordshire Way to Woodstock then another path that joins the Thames Nat. Trail in Oxford. We will walk through fields and on defined paths. We walked a portion of the Camino frances last fall.
Thanks for the above information. I will definitely avoid the Oxford Hotel and will check out suggested B&Bs. I have found some interesting and reasonably priced rooms at universities such as Keble College. I will explore those.
Any thoughts on good in-town inns in Bourton on the Water? Have TripAdvisor-ed many places but prefer RS forum advice.
Thank you.
The two B&Bs I listed above are in the village centre of Bourton-on-the-Water.
Thank you for your Bourton on the Water B&B suggestions. I did contact both. One has no availability; the other has not responded to my email. I'll continue to try with the later.
