I've visited the "English Heritage" web site and found there are many worthy locations to visit between Broadway and Exeter. We will be driving and have a full day to make the trip. We've already seen Stonehenge, and visited the larger cities along this route - looking for people's one or two, perhaps lesser known "favorites".

It depends how much you want to zig-zag, but Frome (pronounced 'Froom') in Somerset, Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire or Shaftsbury in Dorset are all lovely towns; Castle Drogo an interesting Lutyens house on Dartmoor; The Cerne Abbas giant and Maiden Castle are quite close go each other; and Portland Castle is good.

Wells in Somerset. Little town with a big cathedral.
