We will be traveling by trains and buses and would like to stay overnight for maybe 2 nights in a pretty village near Sissinghurst and get a taxi if there is no public transport, to Sissinghurst.
Any recommendations of what village would be nice for going there? Thanks!

If you don't have a car, the best way to get to Sissinghurst is to get the train from London Bridge to Staplehurst and a taxi from there (15 mins). If you don't mind paying for more taxis, you'd also be very close to Bodiam Castle and Leeds Castle which are both good to visit (though quite different- Bodiam is roofless and empty inside and Leeds has fancy interiors and large grounds). Personally I would rent a car to get around that part of Kent- even where there are buses, they tend not to be very frequent. If you like heritage steam trains there's also a very good one which goes from Bodiam. In terms of villages to stay, I don't have a specific recommendation but I'm sure others here do!
