I've visited London a couple years ago but don't remember the shuttle service I used from the airport.
My question...the name of a good, reliable and affordable airport shuttle service (either shared or private) for pickup from and return to airport. I've researched online and read reviews but nothing beats local knowledge. Can anyone give me any recommendations? Thanks all.

Just use the Heathrow Express train that goes to the Paddington train station in 15 minutes. There you can catch a taxi for the short distance to your hotel.

Thanks for the answer. Guess I should have said that we are travelling with multiple bags and would prefer not to drag them through multiple terminals, tube stations, etc. That's why I asked about private or shared transfer services.

lakeg, what you are looking for is called a "minicab" in the UK. I.e. a car with a driver, that you book beforehand with an agreed price. They wait at arrivals area with a board with your name on it, and take you to your destination.
Try googling "minicab Heathrow", you will get lots of hits. I can't recommend any as I always take the tube or train if going to central London.
