Hello All,
I am looking for suggestions for Northern England. We have about 30 hours between visiting friends in Sheffield and meeting family in Edinburg. I have an 18 year old son and a 13 year old daughter. Any suggestions on what to do and where to stay?

York, obviously!
If you are traveling by train from Sheffield to Edinburgh you have to go through York anyway. By car it is a short detour.

It has a stupendous cathedral (York Minster), medieval/roman city walls with imposing gates and medieval streets (the "Shambles").
what about Hadrian's Wall or Alnwick Castle (Harry Potter)?
