We just returned from 2 weeks in England and did take the trip on the Severn Valley Railway from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster. As you said, Nigel, it was spectacular. The scenery is gorgeous and stopping in some of the villages along the way is very nice. I would highly recommend it.
oh, I am so glad to hear that you enjoyed it.
I had the chance recently to ride one of the older preserved railways in the south of England and it brought back to me just how very excellent the Severn Valley Railway folk are.
yay.
My husband was so impressed. He says they have a reasonably priced package where you can drive the train for a half day.
