We have visited London several times and usually stay near Paddington. Seven Dials Hotel is mentioned by Rick. Location looks great although basic. . We want to visit and see plays and visit museums February. We are retired and looking for safe, clean accommodations on a budget. Any thoughts?
Folks are going to ask your budget. That will make a big difference in what folks will be able to recommend. :-)
We have liked the Club Quarters near the Holborn tube stop. (https://www.clubquartershotels.com/london/covent-garden-holborn?gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=21472686461&gbraid=0AAAAADNkhosCqucr0326szUONJ6hnQvwR)
Nice place, on a quiet square and steps from Sir John Soane’s Museum. (https://www.soane.org/)
It is about a 10 minute walk from the center of Seven Dials.
Stayed at the Holborn Club Quarters last trip. Liked. Found the Seven Stars pub that had great pasta as well as an adorable pub cat.
Often stay at 63 Bayswater. Have for years. 15 minute amble from Paddington. Across the road from the Lancaster Gate into Hyde Park. The pleasant Mitre pub 1/2 block away.
Lancaster Gate tube station is close by. Central Line.
Used to be cheap for London. Cant say that’s still the case but rate includes breakfast.
Would I recommend staying there. Yes!
Always go to theatre when in London. Always!
Over the decades have seen Maggie Smith, David Tennant, Daniel Craig, Charles Dance, Ian McKellan, Judi Dench, Mark Gatiss and many others. Love London theatre.
