September afternoon tea

My husband and I (maybe it’s me) want to do an afternoon tea while visiting London.

I’ve been considering a restaurant at the Shard. The views look spectacular.

Can you please recommend favorite afternoon teas?

Thank you

I enjoyed the afternoon teas I have done at Fortnum and Mason and the Kensington Palace Pavilion. Both were quite lovely! I haven't done tea at The Shard, but my partner and I had cocktails at GONG at The Shard in April and the views were incredible.

At the top of the page where it says Rick Steves Europe on the left you should see a group of 5 horizontal lines. If you click on them the search box will open.

Hopefully others who have been and enjoyed tea will have shared their experiences.

Over the decades I’ve had afternoon or cream tea at the Brown’s Hotel, Biscuiteers, Orange Pekoe in Barnes, Fortum and Mason, Harrods, the restaurant in Parliament and The Orangery.

It will all depend oh how much formality you desire and what you feel comfortable spending.

Hi Laurie,
Great suggestions above. Our input: the Zetter Townhouse...something completely different. And a highlight for us a year ago. Its beside Little Italy in Clerkenwell's St. John's Square. Tube: either Farringdon or Barbican stops. The Zetter could make a 2-fer with the British Museum or Sir John Soanes Museum.
If you visit the Shard, it could conceivably make a 2-fer with Borough (Burra) market.

You're spoiled for choice for afternoon tea.
I am done. the cup

Also recommend doing a search on this forum for other conversations about afternoon tea in london. I've responded to a couple of them in recent weeks. Many ideas have been shared over the past few weeks.

I did afternoon tea at The Shard last August. I can certainly recommend both the tea and they views! When I went they had a Peter Pan themed tea which was both tasty and fun to look at/watch the presentation. If you're still looking for other suggestions I've also done afternoon tea at the Langham, Claridges, and Ampersand hotel (a fun science themed tea). All were delicious and fun experiences.
