Senior looking for Moderate price Hotel in Manchester 3 nights

We are planning to stay 3 days to see the city and highlights, perhaps take local bus to smaller towns in area.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks

Any of the Premier Inns will do quite well, the one on Portland Street is probably the best, but I've also stayed at the on Dale street by the train station.

Rather than a bus to a small town, I'd take the train to Liverpool if you want a day trip. It's about 45 minutes or so by train.

What are your interests? If you have any interest at all in football (soccer), the National Football Museum is a must. The People's History Museum is also excellent if your politics are even slightly left of centre. The Manchester Art Gallery is small, but quite enjoyable. John Ryland's Library is also well worth a visit.

You can easily fill 3 days in Manchester, but 2 in Manchester and one in Liverpool would also work well. If you want a change of pace from cities, you can also take a train to Chester and see the Roman sights there.
