SEN Airport to Victoria London

I'm traveling to SEN Airport and my hotel is located in the Victoria neighborhood of London. What's the best way to get there via public transportation and can I purchase the fares once I'm there? I'd hate to have a late flight and have already paid for a missed train. Thanks for your help!

If you don't want to change tube lines the Circle Line connects (slowly) both Victoria and Liverpool Street.

The train from Liverpool Street to Southend Airport is an ancient Class 321 type with very old low seating, 5 across (3+2), is not airconditioned, and stops many many times.

A slightly more convoluted route but much more comfortable if it is a hot day is to use the other train line to Southend.

If when you go outside to the station at the airport you take the train the one stop to Southend and walk through Southend towards the pier you will find the Southend station of the railway company C2C.

They use newer airconditioned trains, stop fewer times and take about the same time to get to London. They arrive at Fenchurch Street station which is near the Tower of London and are convenient to the Circle Line to Victoria.

I flew from Southend in the Spring.

Believe Emma when she says it is a LONG way out. A very nice, very small airport. But not convenient.

There are also only 3 direct trains an hour, journey a few minutes short of an hour.

Regarding the question about getting the ticket on arrival, yes you can - easily.

All you do is walk across the road from the airport and into the somewhat strange looking station, and there is a ticket window to your right, next to the lift and stairs, and a ticket machine to your left.

No advance tickets on that line so no advantage to advance purchase.

Only two levels of ticket, Peak and Off Peak. A Peak ticket will let you travel on any train on the day of validity, an Off Peak won't let you travel in morning or evening rush hours.
