Self Isolation may no longer be necessary in England.

The British Prime Minister is scheduled to announce today that people in England who test positive for Covid will no longer have to self isolate. This will come into effect later this week.

tourists are people too!!!

so if you are known to be contagious you can just go about in crowds as you wish. They leave it to your own ideas of what is right or wrong. They are also stopping testing.

How do you think this will impact the availability and ease of antigen testing for those of us needing it to get back to the US? Assume pharmacies will still do with appointments. Also assume the way this is worded that should we test positive that we WOULD still need a 5 day isolation? And then of course getting a doctor’s note to return to the US.

No, if you tested positive you would be encouraged to isolate but it would not be enforced.

If you got sick, then all you would need is a negtive test to get back to the US. But, if you still aren't getting negative results after a certain time period, then you would need proof of having covid.

My plan is to use Quick.md to get a letter of recovery if I get Covid and am still testing positive when it’s time to return to the U.S. You can continue to test positive for weeks after a Covid infection because of virus remnants in your blood, so I researched how it would work.

I’ve emailed to ask them questions and based on their answers if I test positive on a Monday (with for example, a proctored Emed BinaxNOW test or a local pharmacy test, NOT a generic home test), they will write the letter of recovery on Friday after a telemedicine appt ($75), assuming I am either asymptomatic or symptoms are improving.

These are the Proctored tests I will take with me so I don’t have to worry about finding a local test:
