"Secrets of the Dead" 9PM Tonight PBS New Stonehenge Information

Program description:
"An archaeological quest reveals the oldest stones of Stonehenge originally belonged to another site; a stone circle built on a remote hillside in West Wales."
"Secrets of the Dead" 9PM Tonight PBS New Stonehenge Information.
Repeats at 1:00 AM; check your local listings to see when it is on your schedule.

Many of us saw this in the news several months ago, and read articles about it, but this is the first program I've seen that details the site in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

The original site in Wales is near the small town of Brynberian. About a mile to the south west of Brynberian is Waun Mawn.
There are four remaining stones, one standing and three prostrate. Nearby are the "Troed y Rhiw" standing stones and to the west of the main group is another solitary standing stone, the 'Waun Mawn Stone', measuring some 7 ft 7 inches tall.

The latest theory is that the circle of stones was built c. 3400–3200 BC and then, before 2120 BC, was disassembled, dragged across land and reassembled at Stonehenge in Wiltshire, some 140 miles.

I promise this is the last "TV program alert" I will post for now. It just so happened that a lot of good programs about England or Wales have been on PBS this week, and I knew some Forum members would be interested.

Rebecca please don't stop posting or send me a PM because I look forward to these alerts. I sometimes forget to check the PBS schedule and these posts are a good remnder. Thanks.

you mean to say that people will tune to see Stonehenge without Lucy Worsley dressing up as a an ancient druid? or Neolithic Woman???

Gail, thank you. I will send you an alert if I see there's an interesting program coming on. (I think the Webmaster will throw me out of here if I post too many programs.)

Nigel, hahaha! I halfway expect to see Lucy sneak in from behind one of the standing stones, dressed as a Druid!

Nah - I am sure that these promote travel and will be seen as such....

Thanks Nigel. I hope these programs make people want to go see more of England and Wales.

I hope to go to Waun Mawn someday and see the remaining stones. I'm due a trip to Pembrokeshire, Wales, anyhow, to see Pembroke Castle and the lovely beaches.

Rebecca (and any other "TV Poster"): please continue to tell us about interesting travel related programs. With the exception of live sports, we don't watch TV. So it's folks like you that have alerted me to things like Stanley Tucci, All Creatures Great and Small and Stonehenge. Thanks for the heads up.

Had I known in 2019 when I visited Pentre Ifan burial chamber (shown in the episode) that I was only a couple miles from the blue stone quarry, I would have searched it out. For those wanting to visit the burial chamber, the road to it off the main road is only one lane wide. Parking is a mowed section beside the lane, not an actual parking lot. It is worth visiting.

Trotter, I'll be glad to continue posting when programs of this quality are coming on.
We don't watch TV either except for PBS and the National Geographic Channel.

jaimeelsabio, thanks! Great information!
