Does anyone know if there's a way to 1) choose a country, then 2) do a direct search on a specific topic or location within that country? For example, I want to find any information possible about Carlisle, England, but don't want to have to search forever through all of England.

Go to the Search box and type in “Carlisle”.

Susan there is no way to search this site under a specific subforum. But if you search on a term, like Carlisle, you can refine the search results by clicking "travel forum" and then pick the time frame (6 months or newer, within a year, etc.)
A Google search may work better (use "tools" function to change the date range)

If you are seeking to search the RS travel forum, similar to what CL suggests, I would try "Carlisle England in Rick Steves travel forum from 2024" (or however far back you wish.
