The Forums advise one to search before posting, but How Do You Do That within a particular country?
It actually covers all threads on the Forum. It is not the greatest tool. Sometimes you may have to word it various ways to get good results. Re your other question just posted, try typing "Bristol, England" next to the magnifying lens icon above, then click on the "search" button that appears to the right.
After the first results appear clickon filtering only the Forums. Then click on last 6 months. Poof!!
It's also worthwhile to read the destination information in the Explore Europe menu, top left of this page. You will be able to post more productive questions and have some context to evaluate the responses.
In addition to the search function on the Rick Steves website, you can search on Google. First, put in your search terms (such as "Bristol England hotels" without the quotes). You will get an avalanche of results. Ignore these, and go to "Settings" near the top of Google's search page. Under that, choose "Advanced Search." You then put in:
ricksteves.com for his whole website
community.ricksteves.com for the forums
community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/england for just the England forum.
I just realized, as I was typing the above, that this is the best way to search within a particular country's forum, since the Rick Steves website does not have this function.
Thank you.
I just realized I omitted an important part of my post. I've bolded the added clarification.

Or you can just type site:ricksteves.com in the Google search box along with your search terms.
